David J. Mlcak, C.P.A

David offers over 30 years of experience in tax and accounting for individuals, businesses and estates.  He is a 1975 Cum Laude graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration.  He became certified in 1985 after having earned ten years’ experience as a managerial cost accountant and as a controller in private industry. His drive, determination and entrepreneurship inspired many individuals in becoming successful, independent business owners.   His areas of expertise include business formation and selection of business entities, business consulting, structuring and planning for closely held businesses, and asset protection planning. David’s experience also includes federal income tax preparation and planning for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates and trusts; federal and state tax compliance and audit representation in IRS examinations and in a variety of state agency examinations; preparation of GAAP and tax basis financial statements; financial forecasts; compilation and review services and personal financial statements.  The objective of a business record keeping system is to provide business owners with current information on the costs of doing business.  David‘s experience in private industry has proven invaluable in assisting his clients in developing managerial accounting systems for tracking revenue and expenditures used for business analysis and for taking corrective action in time to maximize profits and minimize losses. His firm is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.  His firm has successfully undergone seven separate AICPA peer reviews that concluded that this accounting firm conforms to all requirements of professional standards as set forth by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Sylvia M. Mlcak, E.A.

Sylvia joined the firm in March of 1987 and has earned her license to practice as an Enrolled Agent in May of 1991. She offers 23 years of experience as a federally licensed tax professional with knowledge and technical expertise in the field of federal taxation.  Having earned the Enrolled Agent designation, Sylvia is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service including examination, collection, and appeals.  As an Enrolled Agent, Sylvia is required to abide by the provisions of the Department of Treasury’s Circular 230 which provides the regulations governing the practice of enrolled agents before the Internal Revenue Service. She is also bound by and must adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct.  Enrolled Agents are required to complete a minimum of 72 hours of continuing professional education ever three years. In addition to advising and representing taxpayers before the IRS in examination proceedings, Sylvia’s responsibilities also include, preparing federal and state tax returns for individuals, sole proprietors, partnerships, corporations, fiduciaries, trusts, exempt organizations, pensions, profit sharing and retirement plans, gifts, IRS collection and appeals. Sylvia also heads up the bookkeeping and compilation functions of the firm.   In this capacity, she is dedicated to providing “Personalized Client Services”.  Being available to provide professional services on a day to day, as needed basis is an integral part of her success as a tax professional.
